Collection Summary

Abstract

This collection includes notes, writings, photocopies, and other secondary research materials gathered by Edwin Gittleman, professor of English at UMass/Boston, for his book on Robert Gould Shaw and the Massachusetts 54th Volunteer Infantry. Also included are course materials, lectures, correspondence, and a pictorial portfolio on the subject. The book was not completed prior to Professor Gittleman's death in 1996.
